This type of glider has an electric motor and a folding propellor. This is used to gain height rather than being towed up by another plane or pulled up on a towline. Once at the desired height the motor is turned off, the propellor automatically folds back to reduce drag and the elevator is selected to bring the craft to the horizontal.
